We do not know what a stoothing wall is but we would love to know.

If it is a plasterboard wall you need to use a wide scraper as a “chisel” and push behind the tiles rather than use a hammer. The chances are however that you will cause damage. If you do please go to the DIY Doctor projects section and look at the project on repairing holes in plasterboard.

If it is a lath and plaster wall, get the advice here.

Please let us know what a Stoothing wall is and where the term comesfrom.
