We are having a single story extension built and the weight of one of the steels that supports the roof is directly onto a window frame. Is this OK? I thought that all windows needed lintels above them that should take the load.

One Response to “Can windows be load bearing?”

On the face of it, this is not ok. Unless this window frame has been specifically designed, it should not be load bearing. You need to speak to the architect who prepared the drawings and ask them to explain how this steel should be supported.
