The British Lung Foundation have launched a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure amongst homeowners who do DIY.

Following a survey of over 2,000 homeowners, they have found that 47% who do DIY in their properties don’t realise that asbestos was used as a building material in homes as recently as the 1990′s. Nearly two thirds are not confident identifying materials in the home which might contain asbestos, such as floor tiles, toilet cisterns, textured ceiling coatings and linings of boiler cupboards.
