DIY Doctor will be going back to their roots this Saturday when they will be getting involved in their local FromeFM Fun Day. Frome in Somerset is where DIY Doctor was started over ten years ago and although they have moved offices several times, their main office is still based only a couple of miles from the centre of the town.
DIY Doctor supports the local radio station FromeFM, and so as part of their Fun Day happening on Saturday 2nd April, DIY Doctor will be launching the first ‘DIY’er of the Year Competition’ for the people of Frome.
The FromeFM Fun Day will be happening in the Westway Shopping Centre in Frome from 10am until 4pm this Saturday (2nd April), so if you are local to Frome and you fancy coming along, the DIY Doctor team will be there from 10am until 12pm with further information about the competition. See you there!

Can any one confirm the clearance needed from a gas fire vent box which extends horizontally from the outer wall of our next door neighbours property. Whilst I have not found anything specific about the matter, most indications about other flue/venting clearances are that there should be a min. of 600 mms into “free space” or to the boundary between the properties – if correct neither is observed, even if makes the application from the wall exit point and not from the furthest extent of the vent box itself which is c200 mms in length – my concern is that gaseous emissions will continue to directly hit our brickwork and potentially be absorbed by same.

How to Avoid Cowboy Builders Seminar Presentation
With the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the NEC over for another year the DIY Doctor team has had a few minutes to reflect on the past few days and have hailed the show a great success!
Again, the team would like to thank all the visitors to the show and also the great many that attended the seminar presentations on “How to Skim Plaster” and “How to Avoid Cowboy Builders” held by DIY Doctor founder Mike Edwards at the Tricks of the Trade stage for their feedback.
In the short time since the end of the show the DIY Doctor office has received a great many requests for more information on both seminar topics, especially on avoiding cowboy builders.

Whilst going through my usual morning forum moderation I came across a new posting that quite frankly made me gasp!
Click on the following link to our forum and read for yourself: http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25683
This just goes to show what flagrant disregard some people have for others and their property. Fortunately, in this instance no one was injured!
If you are able to offer assistance or a solution then please update the forum post.
Many Thanks, DIY Doctor
