This weekend the Ideal Home Show opened its doors for the 103rd time. DIY Doctor’s Mike Edwards, along with other celebrities, presented to large crowds at the ‘How To’ theatre. He was giving tips on skim plastering, tiling a bathroom and how to avoid cowboy builders.

Mike shared the stage with George Clarke, Linda Barker and Diarmuid Gavin as they all discussed their experiences on DIY, home renovation, interior design and garden design.

Linda Barker showed the audience how to save money by renovating old furniture into ‘custom chic’. George Clarke gave his first-hand experiences of renovating his own home to alter a challenging space into a usable home, and Diarmuid Gavin took us on a trip down memory lane to contrast the gardens of today with the ‘garden design’ of his childhood (mainly lobelia and alyssum in blue and white rows!).

Mike’s set on ‘How To Avoid Cowboy Builders’ was particularly well received, and a number of people stayed behind after the talk to share their own experiences with bad builders, and to say how pleased they were that DIY Doctor are tackling this problem which affects so many homeowners.
