The UK’s biggest pet retailers, Pets at Home, appear to be doing well as we enter the new year with sales growth of 6.4% for their first half of year, to September. They have opened 26 new stores and will be opening another 6 stores before April. As well as opening stores they have been focussing on introducing their own brand Advanced Nutrition range and the e-commerce side of the business.

It’s great to hear some positive stories in the retail sector at the moment, but it has also been reported that there has been a rise in the number of businesses going into administration. The number has risen from 165 to 183 and predictions are that there will be more administrations in the first part of 2012.
