The long Jubilee weekend saw a much needed rise in sales in the DIY sector. A report from GfK data states that the DIY market saw an overall sales increase of 4.2%, with DIY superstores seeing a 3.7 % value increase apparently led by sales of emulsion paint which saw sales rise by 25.6%. Garden furniture sales were up by an amazing 71.5% from last year!

This has come as a much needed boost for DIY stores after Homebase has this week reported falling sales of 8.3% due to the bad weather over the last few months. They saw a 15% drop in seasonal products (which account for approx 40% of their sales) with the disappointing start to the summer most of us have been experiencing.
