If you haven’t already read about it or seen it on TV, you really need to hear about Caine Monroy. He is a nine year old boy who lives in Los Angeles, and he has created an arcade made entirely from cardboard – an amazing bit of DIY for a 9 year old!

Caine’s father, George runs a used car-parts shop, and as Caine was hanging out there last summer, he started building his arcade using the discarded old cardoard boxes from the shop. To begin with he had no visitors, but then a film maker called Nirvan Mullick discovered Caine and his arcade and made a short film about him. The film went viral and the rest is history! Take a look……

Following our blog post yesterday on how to make your own snow machine, now you can have on-screen snow with a seasonal addition from Google!

If you use Firefox or Google Chrome as your browser, do a search for ‘Let it Snow’ and you will see a cascade of snowflakes falling on your screen. This will fog up your display which you can then swoosh the snow away using your mouse or click on the ‘Defrost’ button to clear it.

For more Google doodles, and using any browser, if you type in Hanukka into the search bar you will see a string of Stars of David, and if you type Santa Claus or Christmas Lights, you will get a string of coloured lights instead.

Let it Snow Let it Snow!

If you are hoping for a white christmas this year, it looks like you might be out of luck if you live in the UK and are relying on our good old British weather. So, fancy taking it into your own hands and doing a bit of DIY snow making??

Snow machine1 Fancy a white christmas?Well, at instructables.com, a user by the name of MakeSnow has put together a step by step guide to building your own snow machine.

This is an ‘internal mix’ snow machine using air and water, but you will need a pressure washer and air compressor and also to do a bit of extra shopping to get all the bits needed.  It does also rely on the weather being quite cold – so if you live in Australia or you fancied having a go in the summer in the UK, you’d better think again.
