by lee_p » Fri Mar 28, 2008 8:14 pm

Can you tell me if running a 1500 Watt lawn mower is ok on a 5 amp fuse it is a main fuse box feed into garage with a 5 amp fuse in it ( 1 5 in main box 1 5 in garage).

Thanks

Lee

Simple answer No. 1 amp @ 230 volt = 230 watt there for 1500 Watt = 6.52 amp and this does no allow for starting currents or power factor so most likely will need full 13 amp. Some motors do have soft start and you may get away with lower size fuse. Trail are error only real way to know but min will be 7 amp.
