2inch thick mortar

I have just removed an old hearth and underneath is a 2" platform of solid mortar that I now have to remove. I have tried hacking it with a cold chisel but it's quite solid and firmly attached to the concrete below.

What's the best and quickest way to remove this?

You can hire a breaker from tool hire shops
