Advice for Best Materials for Waterproofing for an Outside Ramp?

by highlandcow » Mon Jun 06, 2016 4:05 pm

Hi all,

We have a ramp next to our staircase from our decking leading down into the garden. This ramp1 is partially supported by our neighbour's fence. The timber frame is still intact but the wood covering on top have disintegrated. The stupid ramp was already there when we bought the house. Apparently the ex-owners built it as a "slide" for their daughter. We just want to cover this up. Removing the timber frame is not an option since it is attached to our neighbour's fences, there's a risk of destroying his fence panels. We'd appreciate any advice we can get on the most appropriate replacement material to cover it and how to make it waterproof so we don't have to replace it every few years. It doesn't have to be load bearing as we have no plans to slide down it.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Dr Melon

Thanks. Do you have any recommendation on the type and brand for roofing felt? Also, do I just fix them using clout nails?

Found the following on Wickes' web site:

IKO GREEN ULTRA DURABLE SUPER SHED FELT 8 X 1M
Product Code: 164067
http://www.wickes.co.uk/Iko-Green-Ultra-Durable-Super-Shed-Felt-8-x-1m/p/164067

WICKES GALVANISED CLOUT NAILS 20MM 400G
Product Code: 516035
http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Galvanised-Extra-Large-Clout-Nails-20mm-400g/p/516043

Do you know if these would be suitable?

Thanks for your help.
