Advice on Friction Hinges on old windows please

by Allgooda » Sun Jul 26, 2009 6:33 pm

I have a flat built about 20 years ago. The windows are all timber frame and double glazed. One of the friction hinges has broken and needs replacing. The trouble is I cant seem to find a like for like replacement anywhere. They are 12" hinges, but the problem is that all the modern hinges are only half the width(not stack). Can anyone advise please where I might get these out dated hinges supplied from? Alternatively what else could I do please? I cannot fit a new window since it is one flat in a block and they all have to be matching, so this option is not available to me.

thanks for any advice. This problem has been driving me mad as I have a tenant that cant open his window in summer(if you can call it summer looking out at the rain!)
