advice regarding attic trusses

by noddysilver » Sat May 19, 2007 6:20 pm

We are having a timber frame house built and ordered attic trusses. The company fitted HUGE glue lam beams to take the attic trusses in the roof then fitted normel webbed trusses saying that we could not have attic trusses as the pitch was 40 degrees??? We have since found out that they have lied to us and are tyring to get the problem coreected. Amazingly enough the company * have forgotten the conversations!!! We have plans with open attic trusses on them drawn by them!! Anyway i am waffling. What I would like to know is do we need these HUGE glue lam beams on a webbed truss roof???? We believe not as we were told by the company that the glue lams were needed to support the attic trusses. Any ideas would be appreciated. :D

You need to taslk to your local building inspector about this Noddy. We cannot safely say what you do or don't need in your roof I'm afraid. We can't guess.
