Armour/cover BT cable

Post by whiteduck » Sun Feb 03, 2008 7:33 pm

Hi there,

My BT cable is somewhat exposed where it enters the house.

I would like to cover it (at least to a height where a ladder would be needed) to deter someone from cutting it thinking it may stop my alarm system from working.

Has any one got any suggestions of some subtle, suitable and cost effective ways of doing this. I don't want to pay BT to come and replace it with the armoured type so need something that can be added.

Many thanks indeed
Ian

There is a type of metal capping, it is sometimes seen on old wooden telegraph poles, bit ugly though.

Go into a good electrical wholesaler and ask. There are hundreds of cable management solutions from plain conduit to the pre-formed plastic that firms like Scottish power use. Conduit is very strong but you need to disconnect to fit you would only need 16mm but somewhere like CEF will show you loads of options. But some are expensive.
