Balancing Radiators - 1 Pipe LCS Heating System

by Jayce74 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:09 pm

Hi all, having a problem with my rads and wondered if aynone had any advice? I'm coming to the end of a 2 year plumbing course, which has covered cold/hot water, heating systems and waste water. And am now beginning to do some basic pluming work. Currently I'm trying to balance a 1 pipe LCS heating system with some old column rads but have never seen the valves before. From what i can make out their quarter turn ellbow valves. By this i mean, 1/2" LCS rises up from the main flow pipe with a 90 bend into the top left of the rad, the 90 elbow has a hex head in the top which i think operates the valve. Is this correct? If so can it be balanced?

Hi
The only thing I can suggest is that you post a photo or two of these 'valves'
If this is really a one pipe system, I have my doubts that attempting a balance is going to solve anything.
