Bath mixer tap with shower attachment

by denbo49 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 1:17 pm

Hi I've got a Bath mixer tap with a hand shower attachment inbetween the taps. my problem is when you turn on the taps the water comes out of the shower attachment, but if you push down the collar to switch it to have the water coming out of the taps you only get a trickle coming out of the taps and most of the water continues to come out of the shower. Can anyone throw any light on how I get the water to come out of the taps and not the shower please.

Take out the change over knob and inspect it. you may need a new seal kit. A good plumbing shop should be able to help. try to get the make of unit first. Also, try googling "how a mixer tap works".

Please see our project category page on taps and valves if you are looking to solve similar problems to this.

We also have a specific page on repairing mixer taps as well.
