Bathroom Light Pull confusion

by karldou » Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:10 pm

Hi Guy's

I have been reading some guides on this site.. but i just want to clarify a few things.
Firstly the pull cord switch in our bathroom decided to give up last week.
I have since bought a new one but the connectors are slightly different

The original pull switch had Earth (yellow/green), 1 Way (black with red band) and Common (red).

But the new pull switch is a 2 Way switch (whatever that means).
The new terminals are Earth on the casing, and then inside the switch there are a Com, L1 and L2 connectors!?!

I'm guessing the Earth is the Yellow/Green
Common is the Red wire
L1 is the Black with red band
and the L2 is left empty?!

Is that right, as i dont want to blow up the place!

Thanks for all your help in advance

Karl.

Hi Karl , yup just ignore L2,
regards SPARX
(The 2 way bit is if used say in a bedroom to sw. main light from 2 positions ie @ door and over bed)
