Bathroom Pipes - Sounds like cracking

Post by alankfc02 » Mon May 19, 2008 11:26 am

Hi,

Im hoping someone here could maybe help me out. I dont mind trying some DIY but when it comes to water and pipes my knowledge is limited. Over the last couple of days everytime I put my shower on or any taps in the bathroom I start to hear a cracking sound (which doesnt sound to good). I have worked out its coming from the corner where the main pipe rounds down from my kitch on the ground floor to the roof. I would think if there is a like I would know due to dampness of the smell but cant find nothing.

Please can some help me

The most logical explanation of the noise you describe is the pipes expanding and contracting as the hot water is drawn through the pipes. This is not an unusual occurrence and is perfectly harmless. Just why this has suddenly started to occur is less obvious.
