Bathstone repair

I repaired a bathstone window sill and porch last year but after the frosts this winter the repair failed. I just used water to mix the bathstone and wetted the existing before building up layers in some places up to 3 ins my question is?
Should I use uni bond in the water mix and if so how much?
How thick should my layers be?
