    heating, the boiler fires up then switches off after 1 minute and then the overheat thermostat operates. When I press the thermostat button back in the boiler fires up again and then switches off ater 1 minute. The boiler operates fine when the asking for the water to be heated and only switches off when it is hot.

    I sounds like you need to check that the pump is working.
