Billiards table upstairs

Post by mbrons56 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 5:18 am

I want to move a slate, 7 ft pool table into a finished 'bonus' room upstairs and am not sure the floor can support it. I think the table weighs about 500 pounds and has four round legs each with a contact area of about 31.8 in^2. The floor joists are 2" x 10" and span is 17 ft. I believe the joists are Southern Pine. The sub floor is 1" x 10" pine. Thank you

If you have any doubts I would invite a structural engineer in to look at it or a qualified builder. I would not want to coment without seeing the site myself as 1/2 ton of table could do some damage.
