Blown Downlights

by sidbrown » Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:54 pm

Hi,

I have 6 downlights connected to a dimmer switch in the kitchen. When I put them on full power the other day the light circuit for the whole house tripped. When i reset it, the downlights stayed off. Have checked the bulbs and they are ok. Also i can't see a fuse in the dimmer switch so it must be something related to the transformer in the lights. Help!

Hi, resisting to rant on about 'ruddy down-lights','curse of the nation'.
what is transformer rated @ ie how many VA , what are lamps & do they add up to more? ie tx. 105VA 6 lamps @ 20w =120VA oops!
Try changeing sw. for standard on/off sw. do lights work? if so sw. f..
foobared. if not trnsfmr may have given up, check rating as above & get size above max lamp load, VA = Watts of lamps plus small amount for lamp induction, don't worry about that just go up a bit from lamps total , hope that helps, SPARX
