boiler replacement

hi
i've got an UGLY gas fire with a back boiler in a very nice fire place in my flat. I'd like to know if it's possible to remove them and then to fit a combi boiler in the fire place?
or could a combi boiled be fitted where the water tank is currently (in a big cupboard)?
if yes at which cost???
please help!!!
