Building Regs for Kitchen layout change (fixed image)

by rangler2 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 11:17 am

Hi

We are replacing our kitchen and changing the layout at the same time, by removing a dividing archway between it and the dinings room. We also plan to replace the kitchen door with a window.

In the future we hope to have an extension and change the access into the kitchen from the lounge to a corridor to the hall and door into the kitchen.

My question is, are the interim and final layouts OK for building regs given I know there are rules about having 2 exits from the kitchen? I think that since we are making the kitchen/diner one room this means the back door and exit to lounge/hall should both count as kitchen exits?

This will make more sense in plan form:

Of course we will go for building regs approval but would like to start work on the kitchen in the meantime and don't want to have to change it back!

Thanks for your time,
Andy
