Building Regulations for a Unheated Garage Extension

I want to build a garage onto the side of my house.
I understand that the extension will need Building regulation approval, but as the garage will not be heated or have any direct access into the existing house, will the wall construction need to comply with the thermal regulations? There will be no heat in the garage to be retained by the wall or roof.
