Can I cut a fire door down by 70mm

Post by winky » Mon Mar 29, 2010 2:34 pm

Hello eveyone,

I am struggling to figure out what to do about a firedoor.

I am upgrading to an FD30 door, however, the frame is only 1915mm tall, and I have a door which is 1981mm tall, and the instructions say you must not trim more than 3mm from the top edge and 5mm from the bottom.

I have looked for smaller doors, but cannot find any.

I would be very grateful if someone can advise me whether there is somewhere I can buy a shorter door, or whether building control will likely be OK with me cutting the door down by 70mm.

It's a 4 panel moulded firee door by the way.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Toby

Hi ive just had my fire door cut down to put it in another place and the building regs say that when cutting down the size of fire doors you can cut as much as you like but you must put fire striping on all cut sides you can get this in a diy store hope this helps. :) :) :)
