Cannot Drill in any Further to put Curtain Poles up?

Post by GINGERT2 » Tue Dec 09, 2014 1:28 am

Hi,

I'm trying to put curtain poles up, i could only get the drill 2cms or so and a bit more on the other hole, I'm using a black and decker BD142 Hammer drill, aparently the walls have had cavity wall insulation a few years ago, not sure if this has any bearing on it, any advice would be greatly appreciated ,thanks G

Hi GINGERT2

If the power drill and drill bit are OK on other areas of wall, I suspect that you've found a concrete, or even steel lintel that supports the wall above. The insulation would have nothing to do with it.
If you can establish that it's concrete, then get your hands on a SDS type power drill, you'll have no problems. Th e only alternative would be to find another location for the pole.
