carpet underlay/laminate flooring

by lioncurlz1 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 1:20 pm

We have carpet underlay left from the room we want to laminate. As well as a waterproof membrane does anyone know if using the carpet underlay would be a problem. We can use the standard laminate underlay if needed.
Thanks

Hi,
Dont use carpet underlay, always use the proper laminate underlay, this can be bought with a DPM built in. Quick-Step Combifloor is a good product with DPM. Steer clear from fibre board underlay...

Thanks! we will use the quick-step as that's the brand of laminate floor we are now buying and you need to use it for the guarantee, but I might not have if your answer was different.

Quick-step laminate is my laminate of choice then Witex. Great product and is made to be fitted unlike some others! You have the benefit with Quick-step of being able to tap the product together on a flat plane(not 40%) if you need to fit under objects...eg. architraves/kitchen Units...Also the threshold profiles now are multi-use.. Cleverly thought out...Quick-step hold the copyright to Uni-click locking system and it is still the best.. IMO

Hope it goes well for you..
