Post by paulhm » Wed Feb 04, 2009 3:58 pm

Hi

I am replacing the cast iron frontage which was started to peal away from the wall, with some 8mm expansion bolts

I need to know if i need to fill the space directly behing the legs for the cast iron surrond which is all in one peice, or can i just bolt it to the wall

the fireback has been filled previously

?

paulhm,
Cut back the existing plaster, fit the surround into the recess and bolt back with lugs, then make good the plaster.
end

paulhm,
I cannot see any advantage in filling any part of the fire surround with insulation.
end.
