Catch on Loft Hatch is Broken and Can't Access Loft

by tessarodham » Thu Oct 23, 2014 3:15 pm

Hello

Been stuck with an annoying problem for over a year! The lock device on the hatch into my loft has broken. It used to open with a special pole which rotates the catch to release the door, but it no longer works (essentially the catch is just spinning on itself, whilst the lock is staying firmly shut!). How can I prize my way in?? I obviously can't take the hinges off while the door is in this closed position. I hope somebody can offer a suggestion...

Thanks!
Tess

Hello... I don't suppose you ever found a solution to this problem? I've been suffering from it myself for several months!
