ceiling rose has more wires than the light i am replacing it

i am installing old ceiling light with a new modern one but when i removed old ceiling rose there are more wires than the new one ie two blacks two reds & an earth new one only has three so all in all i have too many wires could you please advise me your help would be much appreciated
