central heating on then turns off when hot water on

I have a ideal combi boiler fitted sept 2005. when heating on and hot water tap is turned on to run water the heating goes off then goes back on when hot water tap turned off is this a fault / problem?

No, this is complety normal, and is exactly what the boiler is designed to do.
