Central heating switch off but the boiler turns on!

Post by Mingli » Sun Feb 10, 2008 3:44 pm

Hi There,

I have just had a new boiler fitted by a plumber and a new control panel fitted by the electician. Problem is the plumber only did the boiler, the electrician did the wiring and as a result, the control panel for the timer settings doesnt work properly i.e. when I turn all switches to "off" position i.e. heating and the hotwater, the boiler still fires up anyhow at seemingly random times of the day.

Currently I have to switch it off at the mains to turn the whole system off!!

Is it all wired wrong or something to do with compatibility? Help!

Kindest regards,

Ming

I would get the electrician back. It could be so many things including faulty motorized valves so do it nicely it may not be his fault but more likely a simple mistake. If we were to try to advise we would need to know exactly what system you have. Some boilers have a system to stop the pump sticking and do fire up for few seconds this may have also gone wrong so careful you don't blame anyone as it may be not their fault.

Is the frost thermostat firing the boiler?
