Central heating thermostat

by klomas » Mon Dec 29, 2008 1:39 pm

We have a combi boiler but the central heating seems to be governed by the hot water thermostat i.e the heating will only stay on if we do not have a tank of hot water. We are currently working around this by either having the hot water off or by running the hot tap. We have checked the motor by the tank and this is working correctly.

The same happens if the hot water is off and we use the emersion heater - as soon as the hot water tank reaches temperature the heating switches off.

Can this be fixed easily or is it a job for a tradesman?

Yes definately a job for a tradesman - because if you have a combi boiler, you wont have a tank, emmersion heater or motor/pump/3 port valve by the tank.
