ceramic mixer taps

Have just had new ceramic mixer tap installed in kitchen and when I turn the hot or cold tap off water continues to flow for a few seconds before shutting off completely. The mixer tap is fitted with a swivel U shaped spout.

My question please is: Is this water afterrun a design feature of ceramic taps or do I have a faulty tap?

I wouldn't call it a "design feature"! It is simply the spout emptying after the taps is turned off. It is a normal occurrence even if somewhat annoying.
