cold shelf removal

We are about to plan anew kitchen and would like to remove the concrete cold shelf which is situated under the stairs, but because it is built into the wall either side we are unsure if it is alright to remove it. Would be grateful for any advise.

Chisel out the front corners to check its not built right into the wall, if its just in the plaster you should be OK to remove it.
