Concrete Path Joining to Existing Concrete - is Gap Required?

Post by Glennske » Wed Apr 09, 2014 5:08 pm

I am making a short path next to the concrete drive approx 550mm wide and 4000mm long, so that we have more space when getting in the car.

Can I lay the new concrete right butt up to the existing concrete?

Would this crack at the edges or would a gap better, or an expansion joint?

If I need a gap how do I achieve this?

Kind Regards

it will crack, its best to lay the concrete and cut it later when its set, with a diamond bladed cutter, if you lay a plank on the concrete as a guide and run the cutter along the plank it will give you a perfect line.
