Typical Ikea instructions, what it does not say is if they are all three phase or if there is a single phase version, you would need to buy one to find out, likely L1, L2, and L3 need joining together, but instructions are bad.

For anyone still puzzled (like me) it becomes clear if you look at the instructions for the individual spots etc. that you can connect to the rail. Each spot has a switch to select between being powered by phase 1-2-3. This way you can have separate wall switches for each phase, and switch different lights on and off independently.

If you only have single phase power, you just wire up one phase in the rail, and switch your spots to use that phase.

3-phase power allows you to have more lighting elements per rail system, and have independent switching.
