connecting an outside light

by stevvvvvvv » Fri Jan 25, 2008 11:46 am

Hi this is probably quite simple but then so am i!
we have an outside security light in our yard with a weatherproof switch.
ther is only one twin and earth running from the light and another seperate twin and earth from the switch.
both enter the house at the same point but they are not connected together at all.
the light used to work but when we had the house re-wired the electrician cut the wires clean and left them in the floorspace so i have no idea how they were connected! there is a junction box for lighting nearby but i need more information before proceeding.
can anyone help?

seems to me that the two cables need to run back to a junction box which has a supply to it.

Have a look in the projects section under -electrical, lights and switches and you'll find a good diagram showing a typical lay out.
