    Conservatory Underfloor Heating

    Postby Perry72 » Fri Apr 17, 2009 7:51 pm

After a bit of advice please.

We are currently having a conservatory built and we are considering having underfloor heating. I've costed some heating mats at around £500 but the company are also trying to sell me Tile Backer Boards to insulate the floor at around £500, do you thin. k it is worth investing and if so, what mm should I go for - they range from 10 - 60mm. We are intending to have ceramic floor tiles.

Any advice this weekend would be appreciated as my builder needs to know by Monday so he can sort the floor level.

If you think the heating mats or not worth the money what other options would you recommend, i.e. radiator.

    Perry72,
It is important that some form of insulation is fitted under the heating element, suggest you see what the manufacturers recommend.
Even with limited use of the electric underfloor heating you will be adding something of the order of £100 to your quarterly bill - unless you have no space I suggest you stick with a radiator.
    end
