Cracks in ceiling after loft conversion.

I've just bought & moved into a house in which a loft conversion was done a few years ago - the fact of exactly how long escapes me.

Since we moved in & put some things in the loft (a futon, desk & some storage boxes) we've noticed some small cracks around the outskirts of the bedroom ceiling below & at the top of the stairs. They're by no means huge but have gone from hairline crack to noticeably larger in the past few weeks.

It's the newer plaster above that's cracking & not the walls themselves (the house is a mid-terrace yorkshire stone-build, if that's relevant)

Anybody have any useful tips or advise on what can be done?
