    damp chimney breast

    Postby Millso25 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 1:05 pm

we have recently moved into a house and re-plastered the bedroom. the plaster on the chimney breast is not drying out. the damp doesn't extend to the ceiling so i don't think the roof is leaking, where else could the damp be coming from?

I am experiencing exactly the same problem on the chimney breast in a bedroom on the ist floor of my house. The damp patch is about 1 metre wide by 50cm deep on the top part of the chimney breast just short of the ceiling. The roof was replaced 3 months ago and the lead flashing is new also the chimney was repointed. can anyone help with advice to sort this confusing problem out out. Thank you.

Is there a vent at the bottom of the brest in the bedroom? If not install one.
