Damp or Mould on Neighbours Chimney Breast?

Post by Smokingbaz » Mon Jul 15, 2013 9:00 pm

We have recently gone into the loft and there seems to be either damp or mould where the neighbours chimney is. I don't know if it is anything to worry about.

I have pictures but I don't seem to be able to upload them due to size issues.

If anymore could help, it would be really appreciated.

usual causes, lead flashing needs repair, or chimney is no longer used and condensation build up is causing it, if its not causing damp in your house then no need to worry, I would inform the neighbours anyway

Thanks for the response.

The flashings were replaced a year or so ago so maybe this is the result of poor flashing from years ago. For some reason there is a damp pad that comes and goes in the hallway lower down the same wall. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Best regards
Barry
