Damp patch on an upstairs wall

by rsilva79 » Fri Aug 01, 2008 11:26 am

Hi,
I have a small damp patch in an upstairs bedroom at the top of the wall where it joins the ceiling. This wall is an exterior one and ridge tiles run straight accross the edge of the roof on this side of the house. There is no guttering on this side of the house, and the exterior wall is rendered and there are no apparent cracks on the render. There is a chimney stack about half a metre from this damp patch.

I got a roofer to have a look, and he has done as much as he can...looking at the roof it looks like it's in good condition, so don't understand where the water is getting in.
any ideas, would be v much appreciated :)

could be coming from the chimney stack.
I would suggest checking the flashing around the stack and repointing
the brickwork on the stack.
