Deck Makeover?

Hi everyone,
Ive just moved into a house with this deck. I'm a novice gardener (at best) and I was wondering does anyone have any ideas on how I could make this deck a bit less drab? While Im good with my hands and crafts, I never seem to be able to come up with the ideas myself! Even what kind of plants are easy to grow, or maybe colourful touches. Thanks!
