Dimmer switch and fluorescent light

by bath_ed » Sat Jul 10, 2010 5:57 pm

I have moved into a new flat which for some strange reason has a dimmer switch on the kitchen light. I want to replace the light with a fluorescent one, which I already have, which has an electronic ballast.

I was going to remove the dimmer switch, but it has been grouted into the tiles so it is difficult to remove.

I know the fluorescent lamp won't dim, but would it damage it to install it on the dimmer switch? Obviously I'd keep the dimmer on full power, but inevitably it would accidentally get dimmed occaisionally.

It is likely to damage both units. Sorry.
