Dimmer Switch

by lolliesbell » Thu Apr 17, 2008 9:55 am

I have just fitted a dimmer switch. I had two red wire, one black and an earth. The dimmer switch has 3 holes that are not for earth. Does the second red want to go in the third hole? I have put it with the first red wire in the live hole but the light will not work.
I have changed the bulb as I was told that dimmers do not work with energy saving bulbs.
Please help.

Two reds and one black core??? something wrong here!
have a closer look with power off, poss. there is a second black in there, if so then both blacks should be together in a spare term block and reds should go to L1 & com. which sometimes has mark of circle with squiggly line thro.
have another look and reply on here,
