Door Frame Ideas After Removing Facings and Damaged Plaster

Post by craighenderson84 » Thu Aug 07, 2014 10:27 am

Hi folks. After some advice regarding door frame facing. Our house has steel door frames. In the hall old owner had facings on them, the were messy so decided to take them. It's left a major mess taking plaster off the wall. We aren't left with much of the steel door frame due to plastering being off here and there. I was thinking bring the plaster out to level it off with the door frame and put new tidy facing on..... Or are there any better ways of doing it. Thanks in advance.

If you can tidy uptheplasterwork either side of the frame could you not just paint the steelor is it full of holes etc? If this is the case it should not be too hard to construct a new facng out of pine and stick it to the steel with some construction adhesive. I hope this helps and if you want some adhesive Gripfill is an ideal choice. Take a look at the link if you want to buy some.
