Door frame

Post by martin g » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:27 pm

Hi everyone,

i need to replace the door and frame on my bathroom but not sure weather you give it a go. I had a joiner come round and quote me £300 to do a frame and hang a door but before i pay someone to do it i was wondering if i could do the job. I have done some wood work round the house and in the garden but never a frame and a door.

Has anyone any advice

Many thanks
Martin

hi,

The door frame is easy, especially if you already have the door as you can set the frame to the door to avoid the need for any planing. fix the hanging side of frame first plumb and secure, chop out hinges on door and frame then hang the door, use 100mm butts, then level the head of the frame and plumb the other side and fix.
