    drainage pipes in footings trench

    Postby alantoff » Mon Mar 24, 2008 10:08 pm

whilst digging my foundations i have uncovered a drain pipe running the full length of the footing directly in the centre what are my options will i have to alter the drain ? or will i have to make the extension smaller? also there is a inspection cover which was uncovered under paving slabs which i would have to resite

    ALAN,

THE BUILDING CONTROL INSPECTOR WILL WANT TO VEIW THE FOUNDATION TRENCH BEFORE THE CONCRETE CAN BE POURED FOR THE FOUNDATIONS.

SO I THINK HE WILL TELL YOU TO REPOSITION DRAINS AND INSPECTION CHAMBER BEFORE YOU CAN PROCEED AND HE WILL WANT TO VEIW THIS ALTERATION TOO.

(BUT MAY REQUIRE NEW/ALTERED DRAWINGS SUBMISSION TO PLANNING AND BUILDING CONTROL).

EASIEST WAY OUT IS TO REDUCE THE FOOTPRINT OF THE PROPOSED EXTENSION.

(THIS MAY REQUIRE NEW/ALTERED SUBMISSIONS TOO.

THIS MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR.

    ALDA.

THANKS FOR THAT ALDA. I HAVE HAD THE BUILDING INSPECTOR OUT AND HE SAYS I CAN EITHER ALTER DRAINS [MAJOR JOB] OR REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE EXTENSION WITHOUT HAVING TO RESUBMIT PLANS. AS I WILL ONLY BE LOSING ABOUT 200mm IN WIDTH I THINK THE SECOND OPTION IS WHAT I WILL BE DOING .CHEERS [/b]
